Ardglass Golf Club
Located less than 20 miles from the world renowned Royal County Down course, and only 7 miles from the Ancient town of Downpatrick where St Patrick is said to have been laid to rest, this magnificent course is a personal favourite of mine. Consistently a feature in the top 100 Clubs in Ireland, this historic course has the whole package.
Hugging the panoramic coastline of the Irish Sea in the Ardglass Harbour, with views of The Isle of Man, Coney Island Bay and the Mourne Mountains, the course is a site to behold. Views aside, this course has so much more.
Originally a 7 hole course, Ardglass was only reconfigured to an 18 Hole Course in 1970 and the with the first 5 holes routed along the Cliff edge, you really start off on a “high”. Holes 2 (Howds Hole), Hole 12 (Cathlin) are 2 of the stand out holes that will test the most established golfers, however, as you tee off on the 18th (Cowds Castle) the view down hill towards the oldest club house in Ireland, dating back to 1405AD is something special. Ardglass should definitely be included any Golf itinerary In Ireland
