Rosapenna

Steeped in history Rosapenna Golf resort was the “True first golf resort” in the world when it added the hotel to the site of the Old Tom Morris Links course in 1893.  At the time it was ranked 3rd best course in the British Isles behind only The Old Course at St Andrews and Royal County down.

Located on the edge of the Downings Village, Donegal, the golf course provides a significant tourism boost to the once bustling fishing village with visitors from all corners of the world coming to experience Links golf at its best.  The addition of the Sandy Hills course in 2003 really raised the profile of the golf resort but the exciting development of the new St Patricks Course designed by Tom Doak planned for 2021 opening will be huge.

The first course in Ireland by this designer will mean that Rosapenna will become one of the largest Golf resorts in Europe with 63 holes across 4 courses and will generate much more of an interest from the American Golfers who tend to travel en masse around the Kerry coast.  Forming the gateway to the “wild Atlantic way” this sleepy, Gaeltacht region of Donegal is ready to welcome the golfers with their unrivalled hospitality and with tourist hot spots like The Harbour Bar and The Singing Pub (Sibin Ceoil) they will be guaranteed a trip of a lifetime.
