The European Club (Wicklow)

“Where the Cerebral player triumphs” is the tag line for this course, designed by Pat Ruddy. Ruddy, a master of his trade has been involved in almost 40 courses but this is possibly his best work as he continues to develop it to meet the demands of the modern game.

Set on the magnificent sand dunes of the Irish sea, Brittas Bay provides a superb location with the southerly slopes of Mizen Head creating a backdrop that you would not expect considering you are just 30 miles from Dublin City.

Established in 1987 this youthful course has already built a history that many envy.  The course record (67) is held by the greatest player to play the game in many opinions, Tiger woods.  A young Rory McIllroy won the 2006 Irish Amateur championship on this course and said it was “probably the best links course I have played on, and I include Royal St Georges, Royal Portrush and Royal county Down in that” which is an indication of the quality of this course.

It has a plethora of worldwide recognitions including no 43 in the Top 100 courses in the world by the Golf world UK and has 3 holes (7th, 13th and 14th) in the Top 500 Golf holes in the UK in a millennium celebration international Golf Magazine.

If you are a cautious golfer who takes time to plan your shots, this course will be your victory parade!!
